La Sociedad Cultural Dominicana
Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas

MISSION:  La Sociedad Cultural Dominicana is a non-profit, cultural organization dedicated to promote, educate, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Dominican Republic. Our purpose is to unite our native Dominican families, build fellowship, and cultural bridges in our community.

La Sociedad Cultural Dominicana was founded in 1991.  The co-founders were Dulce Isalguez Parker, Gina Sainz, and Mireya Luna-Bottom.  The goals of the organization are to:

  • Welcome Dominican families who are new to our community and help them stay connected with our culture.

  • Sponsor cultural events that promote the diversity of the Dominican culture through folkloric dances, music, and artists from the Dominican Republic.

  • Provide educational workshops to learn more about the diversity of the Dominican cultural heritage.

  • Conduct cultural presentations in area schools and community organizations.

  • Provide support to a medical team (LEAP) who provides reconstructive surgery to underpriviledge children from the Dominican Republic.
  • Support programs in the Dominican Republic that promote education and culture.

  • Build cultural exchanges between the Dominican Republic and the USA.

Our Association is run by volunteers.  We have members from different regions of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Honduras, USA, Africa, and other countries of Latin America.  We welcome everyone to our organization who wants to learn more about the Dominican Republic, the Caribbean culture and its people.

Activities planned throughout the year include:

  • Independence Day celebration "27 de febrero"

  • Annual Family Picnic

  • Fundraising events for LEAP and our Association

  • Christmas (Nochebuena) Dinner / Dance
